Sergio Ramirez Guerrero is a Mexican-American composer and flutist based in central NJ. Born in 2002, Sergio was first introduced to music at the age of 10, when he gained an interest in the flute as an instrument. Then at age 16, Sergio would begin looking towards music composition, as a result of a piece that inspired him as he participated in his high school wind ensemble. Currently, he is pursuing a musical composition degree at Rutgers University Mason Gross, under the direction of Amanda Harberg.
Sergio has won no awards thus far, is not internationally acclaimed, and has not had major performances with prominent chamber ensembles or orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Cleveland Orchestra. There have been no reviews from organizations such as the New York Times or the Washington Post.
Sergio's works aim to evoke images of urbanization, and aims to convey the emotions we encounter in everyday life. Instead of the clear lakes, vast green landscapes and mountain ranges, he has a focus on the city infrastructure, vast views of factory lights, and walmart parking lots.
